I was on top of the world. Thought I had it all. Great athletic ability, confidence, and still loving hockey, the sport at which I'd excelled since learning to skate on the pond down in back of our house at age 4. Hockey was a part of me. It motivated me to do my schoolwork, to strive for good grades. I loved training every day. Loved being around the thick smell of the sweaty locker room. Loved being around a bunch of guys who had that same feeling in their stomachs when they laced up their skates whether it was a practice or a big game.
And then it was over. . .
Hopefully what I've learned through a life-altering injury may inspire others as we all deal with life's challenges.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of interviewing Taylor Chace after he spoke to a group of 230 young boys and about 70 staff and faculty at Cardigan Mountain School (Canaan, NH) where he graduated in 2002. Last October Taylor received Cardigan's highest honor as a Distinguished Alumnus. As a former teacher and coach at Cardigan, I am now commissioned by the school to conduct interviews and produce the documentary for their upcoming 20/20 Project. In all of the interviews that I've done in my production career, I'd safely say that this one went well beyond inspiration. I edited a shortened version of Taylor's full interview for one of the "Reflections of Cardigan" series:

Taylor gave a truly inspiring presentation. He achieved his goal of inspiring at least one member of the audience! I asked a lot of my classmates what they thought of Taylor today, and all responses were extremely positive. My classmates really liked how they could see that he genuinely enjoyed sharing his story and teaching others how to acheive their dreams. I am very glad he was able to come.
Thank you again so much for coming today. Taylor is truly an inspiration to us all.
