ICE GOLD!!!!

It wasn't their prettiest game. But it was enough. After a beautiful 3-0 win against Canada in the semifinals, USA was up for the final challenge against Russia and challenge it was. With 150 USA fans v. 5,000 Russian fans, it was all Rus-si-a! (Roos-ee-ah) Rus-si-a! in Shayba Arena.

USA's fans' voices were heard when US Marine, Josh Sweeney, deked the goal tender and shot top shelf into the top of the net in the second period. That was all it took. Every player contributed with everything they had and the USA defense, including Taylor Chace, Andy Yohe, Nikko Landeros, Tyler Carron and Steve Cash played with amazing focus to get the job done.

This Paralympic Gold is the third for the USA (Salt Lake 2002, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014) and is the first time in sled hockey history that any team has won back-to-back gold medals.

Closing ceremonies are tonight however many of us will be waiting it out at an overnight layover in the Moscow Airport. We appreciate all the work done by our USA Hockey, USOC and IPC representatives. We also appreciate the work done by PBS as they continued their documentary work in Sochi. Not only did they tell the stories but they truly felt each player's story, and made many a new friend along the way. A huge thank you to our families at home, without whose help we could not have traveled to Russia. And of course we are grateful to sled hockey fans the world over whose support and interest has helped to advance the sport! Thank you to NBC for your commitment and television coverage of the 2014 Paralympic Games so that the United States could cheer on these amazing athletes from home.

We'll be happy when all of our families and athletes are home safely. Would not have missed this amazing experience for the world.

Good Bye, Sochi!
